IMG UK

The UK arm of a global sports and media business, covering sports media production, event creation, talent and the IMG Arena data and technology business headquartered in London.

About IMG UK

IMG is one of the oldest names in sports business. Its Wikipedia entry says it manages athletes and fashion talent, owns, operates and represents live events in golf, tennis and motorsport, and produces and distributes sports and entertainment media. Its media arm reportedly delivers around 45,000 hours of content a year. Divisions include IMG Media, IMG Arena (data and technology), IMG Events, IMG Models, Licensing, and IMG Replay, an archive that holds more than 500,000 hours of sports content. It is a subsidiary of TKO Group Holdings and, according to Wikipedia, has more than 3,000 employees serving clients in over 25 countries.

The company was founded in 1960 in Cleveland, Ohio, by American lawyer Mark McCormack as the International Management Group. He saw that televised sport would let athletes earn large incomes from endorsements, and his first clients were golfers Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus, known as "The Big Three". McCormack died in 2003. IMG Arena was created in 2012 to serve the betting, media and professional sports sectors with data and technology. We did not find a formal company mission statement. IMG Arena's profile on Built In London says data and technology are "pivotal to everything we do" and describes a focus on making federations' data more useful.

IMG has several UK footprints. Sport 24 channels originate from a production base at Stockley Park, near Heathrow. IMG Models has an office in London. IMG Events produces UK events and football properties, including Hyde Park Winter Wonderland and work with the Football Association and the English Football League. PWR Events is an IMG (UK) Limited company certified to the ISO 20121 event sustainability standard. IMG Media makes coverage for clients such as Channel 4 and, for CBS, the UEFA Champions League. IMG Arena lists its headquarters in London, with 741 employees worldwide according to Built In London.

We found nothing on IMG's workplace culture in the pages we could read. The mix of divisions suggests very different working styles, from outdoor live events to television studios to software teams, but that is our inference. Because IMG has changed hands several times and the parts are now reorganised under TKO, the best way to understand any one team is to check its own division's website.

Jobs across these divisions include television and event producers, camera and broadcast technicians, rights and licensing managers, athlete and talent managers, sponsorship and partnership sales, data and software engineers in IMG Arena, and finance, legal and communications staff. Subjects such as media production, business, sport management, computing and data all connect to some part of the business. The company's own websites list current openings.
