A London software company whose no-code platform lets insurers, brokers and managing general agents design, launch and change insurance products without writing code.
Instanda makes software for the insurance industry. Its platform lets insurance companies, brokers and managing general agents design a product, build the customer journey, and launch it without needing specialist programmers. Its own tagline is "Design. Build. Launch." It describes itself as the first no-code business platform for insurance, and says it works across all lines of insurance. Because the platform is sold only as a service over the internet, customers do not install anything: their product and business teams log in and shape the product themselves. It reports that clients see a return within weeks.
The company says it was started because insurers were held back by rigid, third-party IT systems that added cost and complexity. Founder and chief executive Tim Hardcastle has said technology should "promote innovation, not hinder it", and framed the goal as bringing better insurance to more people and businesses worldwide. It claims clients can change rates, questions, documents and journeys in minutes and launch new products in days or weeks.
Instanda was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in London, at 70 Gracechurch Street in the City, according to a London tech job-site profile. It has described offices in the USA, Chile, Japan and Australia and customers in about 12 countries. A careers-site profile names Hiscox, Vitality and AXA as clients and Deloitte and Microsoft as partners. The same profile lists a team of 101 to 200 people, though that is a third-party estimate.
The company's own pages describe a client community that helps shape the product roadmap, and updates to the platform every few weeks. On the careers-site profile, listed perks include a 24/7 employee assistance programme, a social committee that organises events, a learning allowance of £1,250 a year, 25 days of holiday, a monthly wellness allowance of £100, a cycle to work scheme and a share plan. These are the company's own claims, so ask about them at interview.
A software business like this employs software engineers, product designers, testers, people who configure the platform for clients, customer success and support teams, and sales and marketing staff. Because its customers are insurers, people who understand insurance products and distribution are valued alongside the technology specialists, and there is room to learn the insurance side on the job. The company's own message is that insurance staff who are not programmers should be able to change a product directly.
