About Interbrand

Interbrand is a brand consultancy. A London company profile calls it "a world leading brand consultancy" that has worked for over 45 years, helping organisations strengthen their brands on an ongoing basis. It talks about "Iconic Moves", which it describes as bold changes meant to get ahead of customers and competitors. It also publishes the annual Best Global Brands report, which ranks the world's most valuable brands. Wikipedia says the method is ISO certified, that Interbrand's client list has included Microsoft, Samsung, Google and Nissan, and that it won a Gold Cannes Lion in 2014 for the Mandela Paper Prison project.

We did not find a formal mission statement. The closest wording on the page we read is the aim to help clients make Iconic Moves that "drive extraordinary results". It also describes turning customers into active participants in a brand, rather than people who simply buy from it. Its own site says it has spent half a century solving big brand challenges and describes three practices (Brand Strategy, Experience Design and Brand Valuation) and three pillars: Create, Accelerate and Measure. It says it pioneered brand valuation in the 1980s and lists London among its hubs.

Interbrand's London office is at 3 Bankside, 90-100 Southwark Street, London SE1 0SW, according to its London company profile. Wikipedia says the company's story starts in the UK: John Murphy, from Essex, opened a naming consultancy called Novamark in 1974, which became Interbrand after it opened in New York in 1979. Omnicom Group bought Interbrand in 1993 and it remains part of Omnicom.

The profile lists 1,007 employees in total, which shows how large the network is. The company's "Our People Promise" describes "a global community of thinkers and makers" with curiosity and confidence to create iconic work, which is its own claim. The profile itself does not describe daily culture. The only London roles visible on the profile were a press and PR management role and a general listing, and other trade listings show roles such as UX researcher and associate director of motion.

From that, the jobs in a brand consultancy include brand strategists, designers and motion designers, UX and user researchers, project and client managers, and communications staff. If you enjoy working out why some brands feel valuable to people and others do not, this is the kind of place where that becomes a job.
