IWG (Regus)

International Workplace Group, the company behind Regus and Spaces, which runs flexible offices and coworking space, with a long-established UK network and a London listing.

About IWG (Regus)

IWG, short for International Workplace Group, provides flexible workspace: offices, coworking space and meeting rooms that businesses can use without signing long leases. It is best known for the Regus brand, and its brands have also included Spaces, HQ, Signature by Regus, No18 and Basepoint. Its own history page says it has over 4,000 locations in 120 countries. In 2023 it launched a space called The Engine Room at Battersea Power Station in London. Wikipedia says the head office is in Zug, Switzerland, with a registered office in Jersey, so the UK is a very large market for it and not its headquarters.

IWG describes its aim as creating personal, financial and strategic value for businesses of all sizes, helping them with productivity, efficiency, agility and being close to their markets. Regus's own about page says its mission is to help businesses find and create workspaces suited to their people and their way of working. It names choice, flexibility and access to a thriving community as its values, and says it has helped businesses for more than 30 years.

The company was founded by Mark Dixon, who started Regus in Brussels in 1989. Regus listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2000, bought HQ Global Holdings in 2004 and added Spaces in 2014. IWG plc became the holding company in 2016 and was renamed International Workplace Group plc in 2024. It remains listed in London. In the UK, a 2019 company article said it had about 320 centres and planned 30 or more new Regus centres with franchise partners in places such as South Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire, south-west London, north-west London and Northamptonshire. In 2014 it signed deals with Heathrow and Gatwick airports, and it has opened centres at places such as Liverpool Innovation Park.

Wikipedia reports about 10,000 employees worldwide in 2026. We did not find first-hand pages on staff culture, so we are not describing it. The business is a mix of property and services: it leases or manages buildings, designs and fits out the space, and then sells flexible access to businesses.

That means the jobs are not only in property. Teams cover centre management and customer service, sales, property acquisition and partnerships, design and fit-out, finance, marketing, technology and the app and digital services it delivers. A franchise route also exists, since partners operate some UK centres. If you like business as well as buildings, a flexible workspace company shows how property can be sold as a service. IWG's website lists how its UK teams and partners are currently organised.
