The UK medical technology arm of Johnson & Johnson, with a major site in Leeds (DePuy Synthes orthopaedics) and industrial placements in engineering and quality.

About Johnson & Johnson MedTech UK

Johnson & Johnson MedTech is the medical devices business of Johnson & Johnson. In the UK it designs and supports orthopaedic products such as hip and knee implants under the DePuy Synthes brand, and has teams in engineering, quality, sterility assurance and research and testing.

J&J's UK listings open with "At Johnson & Johnson, we believe health is everything" and talk about a world where complex diseases are prevented, treated and cured. This is the wording of the wider company, not a separate MedTech mission.

The placements we found are based in Leeds, and one 12-month placement says you may travel to Blackpool and Cork facilities during the year. We did not find a full list of UK sites for MedTech.

J&J's 2026 placement listing describes interns being mentored by a permanent member of staff, employee resource groups such as Women in Leadership and Open&Out, and a "supportive and collaborative environment". These are company claims.

Industrial placements run for 12 months. The 2027 engineering placement in Leeds (hip or knee product development, design quality, or research and testing) asked for two years of an engineering, data science or design degree with at least a 2:1 in first year, and closed on 19 October 2026 with an assessment centre planned for January 2027. A sterility assurance placement asked for a 2:1 or above and closed 24 December 2025. Pay was not stated. We did not find apprenticeships.
