For young people, Kainos is one of the most visible early-careers employers in this sector. It offers 12-month placements for students in their penultimate year, a 12-month graduate programme starting with training, and "Earn as You Learn", a four-year apprenticeship based in Belfast that leads to a Computing Systems degree from Ulster University, with fees paid by Kainos and a full-time salary from day one. Its Academies train software, test, cyber security, data and design specialists. The next Earn as You Learn campaign is due to start in February 2027.
