About Kammac

Kammac is a UK contract logistics company, which means other businesses hand over the storing, handling and delivery of their goods and Kammac runs it for them. Its own site describes services that can start small and short-term and grow into full logistics outsourcing, also called third-party logistics or 3PL. It works with customers in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, grocery, food and drink and retail. It holds the licences needed to handle medical products, including pharmaceuticals and their components, and several of its warehouses offer bonded storage (goods held before tax or duty is paid) and temperature-controlled space. It also runs haulage, meaning its own lorries, from sites in Liverpool, Manchester and the West Midlands.

Kammac says it was formed in the early 1980s, and its about page gives 1982 as its start. It was named in The Times Hundred Fastest Growing Companies list for 2021 and 2022, according to the company. In 2023 it was bought by Elanders, a Swedish supply chain group listed on the stock market, and it continues to trade in the UK under the Kammac name. In its own words, Kammac puts customers first and takes a different approach to how things are done. It describes itself as lean and agile, with a short management line so decisions can be made quickly. Its four values are acting with integrity, striving for excellence ("making tomorrow better than today"), taking responsibility, and acting with passion.

The company's UK footprint is in the North West, North East, East Midlands and West Midlands. Its about page says it has 12 sites and more than 4.2 million square feet of warehousing, with warehouses listed in Cheshire, Lancashire, Liverpool, Manchester, the West Midlands, the East Midlands and the North East. The same page elsewhere mentions 15 sites, and the Elanders page says ten, so the exact count varies between sources.

On people and culture, Kammac says it employs more than 400 people and likes long-term relationships. It reports that 35 per cent of its yearly turnover comes from customers it has worked with for 25 years or more, which is its own claim. The leadership team on its site includes Leanne Liddell as chief executive, who is also director of compliance and holds transport manager qualifications, Kate Cross as finance director, Adam Kenny as operations director, Emma Jones as commercial director and Tom Fowler as health, safety, environment and quality lead.

The kinds of jobs are easy to picture once you see the work. Warehouses need operatives and team leaders, drivers, planners and transport managers, and people who check quality and compliance, which matters a great deal when you handle medicines. Behind them are finance, sales and account managers, health and safety specialists and IT staff. If you like organised, practical work where speed and accuracy matter, or you are curious about how medicines and food reach shops and hospitals, this is a company where you could see the whole chain at work.
