A UK digital bank with a London registered office, offering an interest-paying current account, savings and loans.
Kroo is a UK bank that you use through a mobile app. Its products include a current account that pays interest with no monthly fee, savings Pots, a Flexible Cash ISA (a tax-free savings account that lets you take money out and put it back), personal loans up to £25,000 and fee-free card spending abroad. Kroo says it is a fully licensed UK bank with a modern app, and Wikipedia says it has no branches.
Kroo says it was founded in 2016. Its About page names Nazim Valimahomed as founder and Veronika Lovett as chief executive. Wikipedia says the bank began life as an app called B-Social, offering a debit Mastercard, and later became Kroo; the dates in that article are unclear, so we rely on Kroo's own date. Wikipedia also says Valimahomed arrived in the UK as a child refugee from Uganda and previously sold an advertising company. It reports that the Bank of England granted Kroo a full banking licence in 2022, one of very few new bank licences since 2013. Kroo Bank Ltd's registered address is 3 More London Riverside, London, and a job listing placed its office in Holborn with about 240 employees (since removed).
Kroo's vision is "a world where your money works in your favour". It says it wants to reward customers for the money they already have and keep products simple and transparent. It lists shared value, simplicity and transparency, trust and security, and confidence and control as its values. Lovett says the ambition is to make Kroo "the most trusted and loved bank in the UK", and a job listing called it "a bank with a conscience" that balances people, planet and profit. These are the company's own claims.
Beyond the app, Kroo has partnered with Bugni Labs on its credit decision system (Fintech Futures headline). Eligible deposits are protected up to £120,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), which is the UK's safety net if a bank fails. Teams behind a bank include customer operations, financial crime detection, credit risk, engineering, people operations and finance.
A 2025 listing for an entry-level Financial Crime Administrator, based at the Holborn office, asked for office attendance one to two days a week and shift work between 6am and 10pm. Despite the title it asked for at least two years in financial services customer service, so it was not a school-leaver role. Listed benefits included 25 days of leave plus bank holidays, a £500 learning fund after a year, and up to four hours a month of paid volunteering. The listing described a culture of integrity, transparency and honesty. We did not find graduate schemes, apprenticeships or internships, so check Kroo's careers page.
