A UK vehicle servicing and tyre business with over 600 centres, offering tyres, MOTs, servicing, brakes, exhausts and batteries.
Kwik Fit is a UK vehicle repair and servicing business. Its centres sell and fit tyres, carry out MOT tests and car servicing, and repair brakes, exhausts and batteries. It also does air conditioning recharge, wheel alignment, diagnostics and ADAS calibration, a check on the camera and sensor systems in modern cars. It uses tyre brands such as Continental and Pirelli alongside budget options, and it offers mobile tyre fitting for customers who cannot get to a centre. Centres offer free Wi-Fi and waiting areas, which shows how much of the job is about looking after people as well as vehicles.
The first Kwik Fit centre opened in Edinburgh in 1971. The company says its aim is to offer honest MOT tests and vehicle services at fair prices and to be a one-stop shop for the motoring needs of the communities it serves, adding that its technicians are members of those communities. Its code of practice, called the Kwik Fit Way, has been used since 1981. It asks technicians to greet customers warmly, listen, inspect the vehicle thoroughly, explain faults in plain language and give clear prices.
Kwik Fit has over 600 centres across the UK, including Northern Ireland, and many have been refitted in a newer style. It also runs Kwik Fit Fleet for company vehicles, supports the Motability Scheme and offers Kwik Fit Business+. In 2024 it took full ownership of Fettle, a London-based bicycle servicing business, so some centres also handle bikes. The company has been owned by the Japanese trading group ITOCHU since 2011 and still works under the Kwik Fit name in the UK.
The company says it holds ISO 9001:2015 quality accreditation and that its Training Academy has an Ofsted Outstanding rating. It reports that more than 600 employees had been trained for electric and hybrid vehicle work by 2025, and that its workshops are paperless, with inspections recorded on tablets. It also sponsors the British Touring Car Championship. These points are the company's own claims. Its history page also records that its apprenticeship programme began in 1991, that it joined the government's Modern Apprenticeship Scheme in 1999, and that it stayed open through the 2020 lockdowns to support the NHS and other key workers.
Most people at Kwik Fit work in centres as technicians, fitters, centre managers and customer service staff. Behind them are teams in fleet, training, IT, supply chain, marketing and finance. The pages we read did not give a headcount or a detailed description of daily culture, so ask about this when you speak to the company.
