About Lambert Smith Hampton

Lambert Smith Hampton, usually called LSH, is a commercial property consultancy. A third-party company profile says it helps owners, investors and occupiers in the public and private sectors by sourcing, planning, funding, advising, managing, valuing and selling property. Its website lists services including agency for offices, industrial and retail property, valuations, building and project consultancy, property management, business rates, planning and regeneration, auctions, land consultancy, and advice on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.

The firm says its roots go back to 1773, when, according to a community wiki, Robert Herring founded the business. It grew into auctioning and surveying in 1852, and later through a series of mergers: with Hamptons in 1987, Connell Wilson in 1995 and Herring Baker Harris in 1996, plus regional firms between 2006 and 2016. It has had several owners over the years. It is now part of Connells Group, which bought the estate agent group Countrywide in 2021.

LSH's stated aim, in a 2025 news release, is to become "the UK's leading commercial property advisory firm". A profile gives its ethos as being passionate about the built environment and keeping communities connected, and describes it as relentlessly challenging the status quo. Those are company statements and not independent assessments.

In the UK, a company profile lists a London head office and offices in Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Chelmsford, Edinburgh, Exeter, Fareham, Glasgow, Guildford, Leeds, Maidenhead, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Newcastle, Nottingham, Reading, Southampton and Southend-on-Sea. The firm's own website, as described in 2025, lists 21 offices including Lincoln, Oxford, Sheffield and Truro. In 2025 it took a majority stake in SHW, a South-East England consultancy with ten offices and over 200 professionals. Ezra Nahome is Chief Executive. The sources disagree on staff numbers, with figures between 985 and 1,700, so we have not given one.

The work involves many skills. LSH employs agents who find tenants and buyers for offices and warehouses, valuers, building surveyors, project managers, planners, property managers, and teams in research, finance, marketing and technology. Geography, maths, economics, business studies and design and technology are useful. Its website lists current roles. Because LSH has offices in Belfast, Cardiff, Glasgow, Edinburgh and many English cities, people can often build a career close to home.
