A global brand consultancy owned by WPP with a London studio, working on brand strategy, design, retail and employee experience.
Landor is a brand consultancy. It calls itself "world-leading brand experts" and offers brand consulting, brand design and expression, retail experience, brand-led employee experience and brand performance and measurement. Its group includes amp (sonic branding, or the sound of a brand), BDG (workplace and architectural design), Deep Local (creative technologists) and ManvsMachine (3D motion design).
Its tagline is "We build brands. We build futures." On a job listing the company says it works to "make brands more valuable and less vulnerable". We did not find a formal mission statement. When the company renamed itself from Landor & Fitch in November 2023, its group chief executive Jane Geraghty described the business as having "come together as one team with a shared culture".
Landor was founded in 1941 in San Francisco by Walter Landor and his wife Josephine, and was later based on a ferryboat called the Klamath, which remains its symbol. It merged with the experience design agency Fitch in 2020 or 2021 (sources differ) before returning to the Landor name in 2023. The London studio is hybrid, with teams in the office around four days a week according to a job listing. We did not find a street address for London.
The company says it believes "the best work happens when we're together, fostering creativity, collaboration, and connection" and that it is an equal opportunity employer committed to "a culture of respect where everyone belongs". Those are its own statements. Landor's own site says its purpose is to make a positive difference to its people, its clients and its world, and claims a team of 1,300 people across 30 locations. It describes three services, Consulting, Design (visual, verbal, sonic and motion) and Experience, and shows work for Nike Kids, LeShuttle and the Milan Symphony Orchestra. Wikipedia adds that Young & Rubicam bought Landor in 1989 and that Walter Landor's view was "The package itself must do the talking." Since 2004 Landor has also published an annual Breakaway Brands survey, and in 1994 its records were placed in the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History.
A Landor London listing for a senior client manager shows the studio employs people who run client relationships, alongside designers, strategists, retail and workspace specialists, sound designers and motion artists across the group. If you enjoy teamwork and seeing design in shops, workplaces and on screens, this is a good fit.
