About Liverpool Football Club

Liverpool Football Club is a professional football club that plays at Anfield, in Liverpool. Alongside the men's team, the club has an academy and a women's side, and its training base is the AXA Training Centre in Kirkby, which opened in late 2020 after the club left its older Melwood site. Anfield was built in 1884 and, after redevelopment of the Main Stand and the Anfield Road stand, now holds about 61,000 people. The Kop is the stand known for its noisy supporters. The club says it has 300 officially recognised supporters' clubs in 100 countries, which gives some idea of how much work goes on beyond the pitch.

Liverpool was founded on 3 June 1892 by John Houlding, who owned the land at Anfield, after a dispute with the committee of Everton, who then moved to Goodison Park. The club first called itself Everton Athletic and became Liverpool Football Club that March, joining the Football League in 1893. Famous names in its story include Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Kenny Dalglish and, in the modern era, Jurgen Klopp. We could not read a formal club mission statement. For its charity, the LFC Foundation, the club says the aim is to reduce social inequality, with better health, learning and job opportunities for everyone, and that "we look out for each other".

The sources place Liverpool's work firmly in the Liverpool City Region. Anfield is about two miles from the city centre, the training centre is at Kirkby, and the LFC Foundation focuses on areas of high need and deprivation across the region, with a stronger focus on Anfield. The Foundation runs 11 community hubs across the area. It says it supported more than 145,000 people in the 2024-25 season, with 20% of them living in some of the most deprived communities in the UK, and it hopes to reach half a million people by 2030.

On people and culture, the Foundation describes building on 20 years of community work. Its chief executive, Matt Parish, said a partnership with the Steve Morgan Foundation has "already made a profound difference to thousands of lives across the Liverpool City Region". The Foundation's programmes include Works, which helps young people prepare for study, training and jobs; a SEND programme that creates inclusive activities for children and young people with additional needs; and Kicks, which uses football to engage young people and strengthen local communities. We did not find the club's own pages on staff or culture.

Roles at a club like this include coaches and academy staff, community and youth workers, matchday and stadium operations, and the commercial, media, finance and people teams that support the club. The Foundation's programme titles show clear roles in youth work, employability coaching, inclusion and community hub management. For students who like football and want to help a community, the Foundation is the obvious place to look. Check the club and Foundation websites for what is open now.
