A FTSE 100 London-based property company that owns warehouses, supermarkets, health and leisure buildings across the UK and leases them to businesses on long agreements.
LondonMetric Property is a real estate investment company, which means it owns buildings and earns rent from the businesses that use them. It describes itself as a British property company listed on the London Stock Exchange, and it is one of the larger names on the FTSE 100 list of top companies. The buildings it owns include logistics warehouses, which store and send out goods, and other properties let to well-known names, including a group of Premier Inn hotels. Wikipedia puts the number of property investments at about 572, all in the UK. The company's idea is simple: buy good buildings let to strong tenants on long leases, and let the steady rent build up year after year.
The company began in October 2007 as London & Stamford Property, founded by Raymond Mould and Patrick Vaughan. In 2013 it merged with Metric Property Investments to form LondonMetric. Its chief executive, Andrew Jones, previously helped build British Land into a leader in retail parks and then launched Metric. In a 2018 interview he described a decision in 2013 to turn the business towards logistics, calling himself a "reluctant developer" who prefers compounding rental income to frequent buying and selling. We could not read a formal mission or values page, so we have not invented one.
LondonMetric's head office is in London, and its buildings are spread across England, Scotland and Wales, including warehouses close to towns and cities that serve shops and homes nearby. In recent years it has grown through large company purchases, including LXi REIT in 2024 and Urban Logistics REIT in 2025, and in January 2026 it bought nine Premier Inn hotels from Whitbread, taking its Premier Inn portfolio to 22 hotels. We found no list of regional offices, so most of its team appears to work from London.
Property companies like this are often small in headcount compared with their size, because tenants and outside managers look after the day-to-day running of buildings. That tends to mean small teams of investment, finance, legal and asset-management specialists who each cover a lot of ground. We did not find first-party material on culture or employee numbers, so we cannot describe what it is like to work there beyond the leadership approach in press interviews, which stresses patient, steady, consistent returns.
If you are curious about this kind of work, the roles to look for include investment analysts, who study which buildings to buy, asset managers, who look after relationships with tenants, finance and accounting staff, company secretarial and legal teams, and sustainability specialists who track how buildings use energy. Maths, economics, geography, business and law all lead here, and the RICS qualification is common. The company's own website is the best place to see current vacancies.
