A UK online beauty retailer, one of the country's first digital beauty shops, run by THG Beauty from Manchester and now selling skincare, haircare, makeup and fragrance online and in a store in Altrincham.
Lookfantastic is an online beauty retailer that sells skincare, haircare, makeup and fragrance from many brands, including its own brands. It is part of THG Beauty, the beauty division of the Manchester-based THG group, which also runs the web stores Cult Beauty and Dermstore and the Glossybox subscription boxes. Lookfantastic runs a subscription service and local websites for different countries, adapted to each place's prices, promotions, couriers and payments.
THG, formerly The Hut Group, was co-founded in Manchester in 2004 by Matthew Moulding and John Gallemore. It bought Lookfantastic in 2010 and described it as one of the UK's first digital beauty retailers. At that time, the business also ran UK beauty salons. THG later added Glossybox (2017), Dermstore (2020) and Cult Beauty (2021). The beauty business has also been led by Lucy Gorman, who is named in a 2024 report as CEO of THG Beauty.
THG's head office is the ICON Technology Campus at Manchester Airport, which opened in 2021, and it has a distribution centre in Warrington and a product development facility called THG Labs. In September 2024 Lookfantastic opened its first permanent store, a concept store in Altrincham, Greater Manchester, in a former JD Sports unit on George Street. Before that it ran a pop-up in London over Christmas 2023. The store offers products from about 90 brands, including Color Wow, Sol de Janeiro, NARS and YSL, and is designed to support its online business. We did not find a current count of UK staff.
Ms Gorman said the store "goes beyond products, offering a unique and immersive beauty destination" and bridges the gap between Lookfantastic's online community and the success of its pop-up events. That is a company statement. We did not find a mission statement, values page or staff accounts for Lookfantastic specifically, so we have not described its culture beyond that. THG as a whole has also been in the news for its changes, including separating its technology arm, so check up-to-date coverage.
A digital retailer like this needs buyers who choose the brands, merchandisers, content creators and social media teams, web developers and data analysts, customer service, warehouse and logistics staff, and the shop team in Altrincham. If you are interested in online shopping, data, social media or beauty, it combines all of them. Look at the THG and Lookfantastic websites for current roles.
