UK partnership housing developer · Built Environment & Construction

Lovell

A UK housing partnership company, part of Morgan Sindall, that builds and regenerates homes with councils and housing associations across England, Scotland and Wales.

About Lovell

Lovell describes itself as a partnership housing expert. It builds and regenerates residential developments across England, Scotland and Wales, including new homes, assisted living, public spaces, land purchase and development, contracting and home refurbishment. Its customers and partners are mostly local authorities, housing associations, the Ministry of Defence and other public bodies, and it also sells homes on the open market. It acts as both a contractor, building for someone else, and a developer, building on its own account.

Lovell does not publish a formal mission statement on the pages we read. It describes its partnerships as defined by innovation, ambition and vision and talks about long-term partnerships with the public sector and working with communities as they transform themselves. It also says it is ready to support the government's pledge of 1.5 million new homes within five years. It built its first affordable partnership homes in 1971, and says that pioneering spirit continues today.

Lovell has offices across England, Scotland and Wales and lists regions including the Midlands, East Midlands, East Anglia, the North East, North West, London, Southern, South West, and South Wales and West and Scotland. Project examples include a long-running programme with King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council expected to exceed 1,000 homes, a 30-year partnership with West Sussex County Council expected to deliver over 600 homes, 71 affordable homes at Cookley Works in Dudley, and the Miles Platting regeneration in Manchester, where about 1,500 homes were refurbished and about 700 new ones built. It also works with housing associations including Platform Housing Group, Newport City Homes, Melville and EMH.

Lovell is a wholly owned subsidiary of Morgan Sindall Group. Its Bright Network page lists 858 employees, though the date is not given. The company emphasises partnership working and the resilience and cross-sector experience that come from its parent group. We found no culture surveys or staff stories.

A partnership builder employs a mix of people who build and people who build relationships. On site there are site managers, trades, engineers, quantity surveyors and health and safety staff. In the office there are development and partnership managers who work with councils and housing associations, planners, land specialists, designers, community engagement officers, sales and customer service staff, and finance and legal teams. Interest in housing, communities, geography or how towns change makes this a good fit. See the company's website for vacancies.
