The London Stock Exchange Group, a London-headquartered provider of financial markets infrastructure and data. It runs graduate, internship and apprenticeship programmes.
LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) runs the behind-the-scenes systems that financial markets rely on. It operates a stock exchange, where shares are bought and sold, plus clearing services that make sure trades are completed safely, and it sells financial data and analytics to investors. Its divisions include Data and Analytics, Capital Markets, Post Trade, LSEG Technology and FTSE Russell, which produces stock market indices (measures of how a group of shares is performing).
The London Stock Exchange began in Sweeting’s Alley in 1801. The group was incorporated in 2005 and took its present form in 2007 after the Exchange acquired Borsa Italiana, and it later bought the data business Refinitiv. Its headquarters is at Paternoster Square in London, and it is listed on the London Stock Exchange as part of the FTSE 100. David Schwimmer has been chief executive since 2018. LSEG’s careers site says it has around 26,000 people in 65 countries.
LSEG describes its purpose as “driving financial stability, empowering economies and enabling customers to create sustainable growth”. Its careers site lists four values: Integrity, Partnership, Excellence and Change, and says “Our purpose is the foundation on which our culture is built.” It describes a collaborative, product-led workplace that values curiosity, ownership and continuous learning, with a hybrid approach to working. These are the company’s own claims.
Its work is wider than many people expect. Engineers build and maintain the technology behind markets, from real-time data and fast trading systems to cloud platforms and cybersecurity, and the company also employs people in People, Marketing, Risk, Finance, Legal and Compliance, and Audit.
LSEG’s early-careers routes are graduate programmes, internships for penultimate or final-year undergraduates, apprenticeships and entry-level roles. Its 2027 graduate programmes last 12 months and start in September 2027. The Engineering/Tech programme asks for a STEM degree and the Business programme accepts any degree, for people who graduated in 2026 or graduate in 2027, with UK locations in London and Nottingham (Engineering) and London (Business), alongside overseas hubs. Graduates get a buddy, support from an Early Careers Team and a global graduate network, and an eight-week group project with graduates worldwide. Recruitment is rolling, with one application per cycle. LSEG’s pages did not state pay or apprenticeship lengths, so check each vacancy.
