Makers

A London tech school offering coding bootcamps and Level 4-5 apprenticeships in software, testing, DevOps and data.

About Makers

Makers is a UK tech education provider. It runs bootcamps, apprenticeships and training programmes for employers, and helps people retrain into technology careers.

We did not find a formal mission statement. Its apprenticeship page is about opening up tech careers to many types of people, with no upper age limit and a welcome for career switchers.

Makers is based at 22 Cowper Street, London EC2A 4AP. Most of its hiring partners are in London, with growing opportunities in Bristol, Manchester and Cambridge. Hiring partners named include Google, Deloitte, Monzo, HM Government and EY.

Makers apprenticeships are Software Developer, Software Tester (Quality Engineer) and DevOps (Cloud) Engineer at Level 4, and Data Engineer at Level 5. They last typically 18 to 22 months, combining a bootcamp phase, a placement with a hiring partner and an end assessment. Apprentices are paid a salary from day one (the amount was not stated on the page), and training is funded through the Apprenticeship Levy so learners pay nothing.

To apply, you complete a short form, a coding challenge of about 10 days, a 30-minute Makers interview and an interview with the hiring partner. Check the Makers site for the next intake and age or entry requirements.
