The company that runs Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands airports, with apprenticeships in 23 areas and graduate roles across the three airports.
Manchester Airports Group (MAG) runs three UK airports: Manchester, London Stansted in Essex and East Midlands. It is described as the UK's largest British-owned airport operator, and its airports connect people, businesses and cargo to more than 270 destinations. Manchester Airport opened in 1938. MAG took on East Midlands in 2001 and Stansted in 2013. Its teams cover engineering, security, firefighting, baggage, car parks, digital, data, finance and commercial roles. The profile we read says it handles over 60 million passengers a year.
MAG's careers page describes its mission as delivering sustainable growth while balancing the interests of customers, passengers, employees and communities, and keeping safety and security standards high. It says it has one organisation-wide culture and five core values, which the page does not list. It also talks about sharing the benefits of airports with local people, businesses and regions. These are company statements.
MAG's roles are at Manchester Airport, East Midlands Airport and London Stansted, and its own listing shows the early-careers pages cover those three locations, with graduates expected to travel between sites. A Prospects profile gives locations as Essex and Manchester. MAG says about 40,000 people work across its three airports in total, including employees of other companies based there, according to a public encyclopedia entry, so treat that as a rough guide.
MAG's careers pages say it offers an inclusive and supportive environment, reasonable adjustments in recruitment and ongoing support after joining. At Manchester, a senior engineering manager joined as an engineering apprentice in 2014, and the Aerodrome and Landside Director began in 1992 as a finance trainee, showing that people have moved up from entry level. An 18-year-old community apprentice said she wanted "a more practical path rather than the traditional route". Treat these as company stories rather than independent evidence.
MAG said in February 2025 that it had put £3m into apprenticeships since 2017, with more than 440 apprentices joining and more than 100 enrolled at Manchester, across 23 apprenticeship standards covering engineering, aviation operations, firefighting, data analytics, bus and coach engineering and community work. Qualifications take from 12 months to five years and combine study with work at the airport, with apprentices aged 16 or over. Its graduate scheme has been relaunched, for graduates who finished within the last three years, as full-time permanent jobs, but the page we read still referred to an October 2023 start, so check the current dates. Pay and entry grades were not stated; the early-talent contact is early.talent@magairports.com.
