A UK savings and investments business with offices in London and Scotland and early careers routes from apprenticeships to graduate schemes.
M&G is a savings and investments business. It looks after money for millions of people and organisations, helping them save for the future, invest and plan for retirement. It offers asset management (investing money on behalf of clients), life insurance and pensions, and wealth services through M&G Wealth. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange as part of the FTSE 100.
M&G’s heritage goes back more than 175 years to 1848, when Prudential was formed, according to its own heritage page. The M&G name itself comes from Municipal & General Securities Company, which launched the First British Fixed Trust in 1931. Prudential bought M&G Investments in 1999, and M&G was separated from Prudential and listed in October 2019, according to Wikipedia. Wikipedia places its head office in the City of London, and UCAS lists M&G sites in London (Fenchurch Avenue), Stirling (Kildean Business Park) and the South Gyle area of Edinburgh.
M&G says its purpose is to “give everyone real confidence to put their money to work”. Its stated behaviours are Tell it like it is, Own it now, Deliver results, Care and Integrity, which the company presents as a description of its culture, including speaking up respectfully and doing the right thing because its business is built on trust. These are company statements.
Well-known names include M&G Investments and M&G Real Estate, M&G Wealth (launched in 2021), and the digital wealth platform Ascentric and adviser business Sandringham Financial Partners, which M&G bought in 2020-2021 according to Wikipedia. Its heritage page reports 39 locations and operations across six continents as at 31 December 2024.
M&G lists three early-careers routes. Graduate schemes are open to any degree subject, start every September and last 24 to 36 months, with rotations through different teams and professional training before a permanent role. Summer internships last eight weeks for penultimate-year students, with or without financial services knowledge, and successful interns may be offered a graduate place. Apprenticeships need no university degree and let you earn a salary while gaining a qualification, with career guidance and commercial skills training. M&G says it looks for people with “energy and determination” and highlights mentors and a focus on potential. Higherin lists 2026 graduate and internship roles in London and Stirling. Pay and apprenticeship entry requirements are not published on the pages we read.
