A Yorkshire-based maker of paving, kerbs, drainage and other hard landscaping products, with roots going back to 1890.
Marshalls makes the hard surfaces of outdoor spaces: block paving, patio slabs, kerbs, drainage, street furniture and landscape protection products for streets, public squares, gardens and driveways. A trade magazine profile describes it as a full-service outdoor landscaping company that makes natural stone and concrete products for construction, home improvement and landscaping. It is also the company behind the Driveline Drain concrete drainage system and the Conservation X paving range. It now sits in a group that includes Marley, a roofing manufacturer, and Viridian Solar, which makes roof-integrated solar panels.
The business began in 1890, when Solomon Marshall started supplying stone from a quarry in Yorkshire. The company's history page says it later brought concrete block paving to the UK, developed roofing systems, and pioneered roof-integrated solar technology. A trade magazine article quotes chief executive Martyn Coffey, now succeeded, describing the company's aim as "creating better spaces across the nation". Wikipedia says Simon Bourne became permanent chief executive in January 2026. We did not find a longer written mission or values page.
Marshalls' head office is Landscape House, Premier Way, Elland, West Yorkshire. Wikipedia says it runs its own quarries and manufacturing sites in the UK, and it also has a business in Belgium serving the Benelux countries and northern France. The trade magazine profile mentions design spaces in London and Birmingham. The company's history page says that in 2025 it decided to leave the UK natural stone industry for landscaping, so product lines described in older articles may have changed. We could not find a current site-by-site list.
On people and community, the trade magazine profile says the company was community-minded: senior managers gave up wages that had been paid back to them and the company donated £120,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support. The same article says it held a top ESG rating from MSCI, a measure of environmental, social and governance performance, and that it only works with suppliers that protect their workforce and oppose slavery and child labour. Those are the company's claims as reported, not checked by us, and the article is some years old.
A company that quarries, manufactures and sells to landscapers needs quarry and factory teams, engineers and maintenance staff, drivers and logistics planners, product designers and technical advisers who help architects and councils choose materials, plus sales, marketing, finance and human resources. If you enjoy design, outdoor spaces, or the science of materials such as stone and concrete, Marshalls shows how those interests become products used in towns and cities across the country.
