An independent UK accountancy and advisory firm, a member of Baker Tilly International, with offices in London, the South East, East Anglia and the Midlands.
MHA is an independent firm of accountants and advisers. It works with a wide range of clients, from agriculture and healthcare to manufacturing and media, and describes itself as a top 15 independent firm. In plain terms, its people audit company accounts, prepare accounts and tax returns, advise on tax, help with business advice such as payroll and bookkeeping, and run a wealth management arm that gives personal financial advice.
MHA's own investor page traces its roots to a firm founded in 1869, which was a founding member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. The name MacIntyre Hudson first appeared in 1924. The firm grew through many mergers across the 1960s to 1980s, adding offices in places such as Bedford, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Leicester and Peterborough. It joined the Kreston network in 1996, launched MHA as a national association of independent firms in 2010 (merging with Coppards in London's West End that year), became the UK member of Baker Tilly International in 2014, merged with KSK LLP in Milton Keynes in 2020, and set up its wealth management line in 2022 by acquiring Cave & Sons of Northampton. It also has an office in the Cayman Islands.
We did not find a separate mission statement. Its four values are Service, Teamwork, Attitude and Relationships; the Attitude value is summed up as "Can do, will do". Its graduate careers page says it aims to help clients reach their goals, provide "fulfilling and rewarding careers for our people", share knowledge with communities and keep professional integrity. These are the firm's own words.
MHA's investor page describes four service lines: Audit and Assurance, Tax, Accounting and Business Advisory (including corporate finance, restructuring, forensic accounting, HR, payroll and cloud accounting), and Wealth Management. Its client base is spread across many industries. As a Baker Tilly International member it belongs to a global network, which it describes as about 41,000 to 50,000 people in more than 700 offices depending on the page.
For young people, MHA recruits school leavers, graduates and apprentices. Its graduate page describes a three-year, fully funded training contract leading to ACA or ACCA, with some vacancies listing ICAS, ATT/CTA or AAT/ACA routes. Trainees get mentoring and work with clients from the start. Vacancies are listed in places including Aberdeen, Birmingham, Cardiff, Colchester, Edinburgh, Gatwick (Crawley), Maidstone, Leicester, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Peterborough, Swansea and the Thames Valley, mostly for January, April and September 2027 starts, plus a six-week summer internship in Edinburgh. It says it recruits regardless of background, that many senior partners started as trainees, and that it offers flexible and hybrid working. An older profile asked for at least 112 UCAS points for school leavers and a 2:1 for graduates, and mentioned 28 days' holiday, Investors in People accreditation and international secondments once qualified; these are the firm's claims and some are dated 2024, so check the MHA careers site for current requirements.
