The UK regulator of medicines, medical devices and blood components, which runs a three-year graduate scheme with a funded Level 7 apprenticeship.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, known as the MHRA, is the UK body that regulates medicines and medical products. Its scientists and officers check that they are safe and work as they should.
We did not find a formal mission statement on the page we read. The Chief Executive's stated vision is for the MHRA to be a world-leading regulator that protects public health through "excellence in regulation and science" and delivers the right outcomes for patients.
The MHRA is a UK government agency. A 2018 report said it moved to 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London, and had about 1,250 full-time-equivalent staff in 2016 to 2017. Those figures are dated, so check the current picture.
We did not find culture claims in the pages we read. As a civil service body, it works in a public-service setting.
Its graduate scheme (as at the page we read) lasts three years and includes a fully funded Level 7 degree apprenticeship in Regulatory Affairs, with about 20% of time for study and an optional route to an MSc. Applicants need a 2:1 degree or equivalent vocational experience in life sciences or biomedical subjects, plus an interest in public health. The application window had closed, so check the MHRA careers pages for the next round. Contact: grads@mhra.gov.uk.
