A London-based law firm with offices in Cambridge and Oxford that offers training contracts, solicitor apprenticeships and vacation schemes.
Mishcon de Reya is a law firm whose work ranges from art and sport to emerging companies, with departments covering corporate, disputes, employment and real estate work. It has acted in several public-interest cases, and it describes a lawyer's active role in public life as part of its character.
Victor Mishcon, born in 1915 in Brixton, the son of a rabbi, founded Victor Mishcon & Co in 1937 aged 22, in a small office above a bank in Brixton, south London. He later became Lord Mishcon. The firm moved to High Holborn in 1961 and merged with Bartletts de Reya in 1988 to become Mishcon de Reya. Milestones the firm lists include acting for Professor Deborah Lipstadt in the Irving v Lipstadt libel case (2000), advising Gina Miller in her Article 50 challenge (2017) and arguing that the 2019 prorogation of Parliament was unlawful, which the Supreme Court agreed with. It became an LLP in October 2015, moved to 70 Kingsway, London, in 2015, merged with Taylor Vinters in 2023 and opened Hong Kong, Singapore, Abu Dhabi and Dubai offices. Its UK offices are London, Cambridge and Oxford.
The firm talks about a social conscience that it says is embedded in its DNA, rooted in Lord Mishcon's work. It has launched Mishcon Purpose (2020) on sustainability, and an Impact Department (2024). Its graduate page says it wants bold individuals, shapers, who can change how the firm works, and that there is no single Mishcon kind of person. All of this is the firm's own description.
Work is organised in departments such as Corporate, Dispute Resolution, Employment, Innovation, Private and Real Estate, and the firm also runs a learning centre called Mishcon Academy. It says it keeps its graduate intake small so trainees take on responsibility early.
There are two main routes. Graduates can do a vacation scheme (spring in April, summer in June or July, both in London) then a training contract; applications for 2027 opened 28 September 2026 and close 27 November 2026 for spring and 18 December 2026 for summer. School leavers can do the solicitor apprenticeship starting September 2027: six years, working four days a week and studying one day with The University of Law for an LLB (Hons) in Legal Practice, with tuition fees covered and a salary paid (no figure published), rotating across six departments. Mishcon's target is three A levels at BBB and six GCSEs at A* to C, though it says it is flexible. Shortlisted applicants take a paid assessed placement in February 2027, and the apprenticeship application closes 27 November 2026. Each seat has a supervisor, a buddy and a mentor.
