Mocean Energy

An Edinburgh wave energy company building devices that make power from ocean waves for offshore equipment.

About Mocean Energy

Mocean Energy develops wave energy technology. Its Blue X prototype has operated off Orkney, and it has planned a larger 250 kW device for the European Marine Energy Centre. A February 2026 letter describes its aim as an offshore power station that generates energy from waves and solar for off-grid offshore equipment.

Co-founder and managing director Cameron McNatt said in 2023 that the goal was to deliver a small array in UK waters this decade. We did not find a formal mission statement.

Mocean is a Scottish company based in Edinburgh, with offices in Aberdeen and Orkney listed in a February 2026 letter to the Scottish Parliament. The same letter said the company had 13 direct jobs and that its future depended on continued Scottish Government support for Wave Energy Scotland. We have not seen what happened next, so check its current status before applying.

We did not find culture or values statements. It is a small team working closely with partners such as the European Marine Energy Centre.

We found no graduate scheme, apprenticeship or vacancy details. Because it is small, a direct approach with an engineering or marine science background may be the realistic route, once you have checked its status.
