A London-based multidisciplinary professional services firm that takes on trainees of all ages, with ACA graduate and AAT trainee programmes and a summer scheme for girls' school pupils.
Moore Kingston Smith describes itself as a leading UK multidisciplinary professional services firm. In plain terms, it helps businesses, charities and individuals with their accounts and audits (independent checks that accounts are accurate), tax, and business advice. Wikipedia lists services including accountancy and audit, bookkeeping, tax, corporate finance, forensic accounting, financial planning, and help for charities, education, media and TV, property and technology organisations.
The firm's own centenary timeline says it was founded in 1923 by Herbert Kingston and George Alan Smith, who formed Messrs Kingston Smith and Co. in London. It grew through mergers, including Smith and Harting (1965), Hemsley Miller (1980) and Gane Jackson Scott (1996). Michael Snyder joined as an articled clerk (trainee) in 1968, became managing partner in 1979 and was later knighted. Barbara Ann Furley became the first female partner in 1974. The firm became Kingston Smith LLP in 2006, joined the Moore Global network and took the name Moore Kingston Smith in 2019, and celebrated its centenary in 2023. Wikipedia reports a London headquarters with six offices in London and the South East, more than 75 partners and more than 700 staff (figures from around 2022-23, so approximate). The City of London is named on careers pages, and trainee listings have included St Albans and Redhill.
We did not find a formal mission statement. On apprenticeships, its managing partner Matt Meadows is quoted as saying "our people are our strength" and "Apprenticeships are an important part of how we invest in future talent." The firm's stated values include respect, collaboration and active listening.
Through Moore Global, an international network of independent firms, it can help clients with work abroad. The firm has said it acquired a majority stake in Moore Ireland in 2023. Work areas named for apprentices are audit, accounting, tax, outsourcing and advisory, and the firm serves sectors such as charities and not-for-profits, media, property and technology.
For young people, the firm's early careers page says it takes on trainees of all ages, including school leavers, university leavers and career changers. It was ranked 42nd in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers 2026 (compiled by High Fliers Research for The Sunday Times), and says 130 new apprentices joined in the previous year, with apprentices joining working teams from day one alongside experienced colleagues. Listings show an Audit Apprenticeship (AAT) starting March 2026 in London, ACA graduate programmes in audit and accounts, a Corporate and Business Tax ACA/CTA graduate programme in the City, and placement-year routes. It also runs a summer programme for Year 12 pupils from Girls' Schools Association schools, and Year 11 students are welcome to apply. The firm reports that 45% of staff, 25% of partners and 67% of 2023 promotions were women. Check its careers site for current routes and dates.
