According to an ABPI careers listing it works on medicines in areas such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, immunology, infectious disease, oncology and women's health, with UK teams in research, commercial, pharmacovigilance (drug safety), and supply.
An older interview with its UK managing director quotes its mission as "to provide superior medicines which enhance patients' quality of life." That interview is undated, and its figures are many years old, so treat it as background only.
The ABPI listing names Milton Keynes (research and development plus support functions such as HR, finance and IT) and Hoddesdon in Hertfordshire and London (commercial, research and development, and manufacturing and supply roles). The older interview also mentions manufacturing at Cramlington in Northumberland, which we could not confirm as current.
We did not find current culture or values information for the UK business. Student review sites list MSD UK placements in areas including HR, procurement, marketing and early development, which suggests a wide choice of departments.
The ABPI listing names several early-career routes: summer placements, undergraduate industrial (sandwich) placements, a graduate training programme, graduate and MSc employment, and PhD and postdoctoral employment.
