About NCC Group

NCC Group is a cyber security company that helps organisations find and fix weaknesses before attackers do. Its work includes security consulting (for example, testing systems and software for vulnerabilities, a bit like a friendly burglar checking your locks), managed services that monitor for threats, and advice on managing cyber risk. Wikipedia says it claims over 15,000 clients worldwide.

The company was formed in June 1999, when the National Computing Centre sold its commercial divisions to its management team, and it was renamed NCC Group in 2000. It listed on the London Stock Exchange's AIM market in 2004 and moved to the main market in 2007. Its headquarters is in Manchester, and it is a FTSE 250 company. Wikipedia reports about 2,140 employees in 2025 and says it sold its Escode business in May 2026.

We did not find a formal mission statement. The company's own sustainability pages say insight, innovation and intelligence are core to its identity, and describe a diverse global community of talented, creative people working towards a safer digital world. Kevin Dunn, Global Co-Head of Professional Services, has said: "For over twenty years NCC Group has been home to exceptional top tier cyber security talent."

Its main work is security consulting and testing, managed detection and response, and advice on cyber risk. It is also an industry partner of the UK Government's CyberFirst scheme, has a seat on its advisory board, and offers summer placements and bursaries to students. UK colleagues also support activities in local schools (company claims).

For young people, NCC Group's main early-career route is the Next Generation Talent Programme, a six-month training scheme for people starting or changing careers in cyber security. Trainees become Junior Security Consultants and learn network and infrastructure testing, web application assessments, applied research and consultancy skills. The company says it welcomed over 200 colleagues through the programme between 2013 and its latest figures, and that its 2022 worldwide intake drew more than 700 applicants for 40 places. It aims to be "accessible to anyone and everyone that has the drive to break into this fast paced and cutting-edge industry", welcoming students, career changers and people from different backgrounds. NCC Group says learning is supported through mentoring, LinkedIn Learning, certifications and internal career paths. The only UK cohort we could read in detail began in September 2021, so check the current NCC Group careers page for today's intake, locations and entry requirements.
