The research arm of Nokia, with a Cambridge lab working on AI for wearables and sensing, linked to the University of Cambridge.
Nokia Bell Labs is the research arm of Nokia. Its Cambridge site focuses on multimodal AI and machine learning for internet-of-things devices and wearables, social computing and materials science.
The Bell Labs pages list four research areas across the whole organisation: AI and software systems, automation, network fundamentals, and semiconductors and devices. We did not find a short mission statement on the pages we read.
The Cambridge lab is in the Broers Building on the West Cambridge campus, near the university's departments. It is a founding member of a research centre with the University of Cambridge on mobile and wearable systems and augmented intelligence, and it works with Oxford, UCL, Lancaster, Newcastle and King's College London.
The site leader named on the page is Bo Olofsson. Staff profiles are on the Bell Labs researcher directory. We did not find culture claims specific to Cambridge.
The page links to a job board for the site and mentions internships under its wider collaboration section, but gives no Cambridge intern details. Research posts often expect advanced study, so check the Bell Labs jobs board.
