A London accounting firm for start-ups that combines accountants with its own automation tools.
Novabook describes itself as an AI-native accounting firm for startups. In plain terms, it is a modern accountancy that looks after the bookkeeping (recording money in and out), payments and payroll (paying staff) for young companies, using software and artificial intelligence to remove repetitive work. Founders can talk directly to an assigned accountant, and clients get an online platform that shows filings and pending actions. It is also building automation tools, and says these could cut a large share of manual tasks in accounting firms.
Novabook was started by a team who had previously built and sold an education technology company. Its Welcome to the Jungle company page names Stephen Wilks as co-founder and CEO, formerly co-head of AI at GoStudent and co-founder of Seneca Learning, and Lukas Feddern as co-founder and CTO, with the same background. Seneca is a free online revision platform used by students. We did not find a founding year. Novabook is based in Victoria, London, in a shared WeWork office on Buckingham Palace Road.
Its stated mission is to support startup founders with tailored accounting services every step of the way. Its tagline is "AI-native accounting firm for startups." Beyond that, we did not find a longer mission or values statement, so the company's goals are otherwise implied by what it sells: faster, more personal accounting for early-stage businesses.
The company says it has over 900 clients and has between 21 and 100 employees according to company directories. Its services are experienced accountants handling bookkeeping, payments and payroll, a named accountant for each client, and a software platform. Its automation tools are still being built. We did not find named client companies or a named partner list in the pages we could read.
It is a small, fast-moving team rather than a large training firm. Roles listed on Welcome to the Jungle in autumn 2026 were Full Stack Engineer, Events Associate, Ops Associate, Senior Ops and Commercial Associate, with a Founders Associate role also advertised elsewhere. The Commercial Associate listing says the work is prospecting and relationship-building in sales and account management, with the office in London five or more days a week, and quoted pay of £35,000 to £40,000 base for mid and senior candidates. Job boards have also listed a Sales Graduate role in London, but we could not read the details, so there is no confirmed graduate scheme or apprenticeship. The page said little about culture.
