A free, government-backed online library of lessons and teaching resources for teachers and pupils in England, run from Manchester.
Oak National Academy provides free, high-quality digital curriculum resources for teachers and their pupils. The resources are optional and can be adapted by teachers. Its tools include lesson plans, a pupil area and an AI lesson-planning assistant.
Its stated mission is to improve pupil outcomes and close the disadvantage gap, by providing free teaching resources and expert curriculum advice. In its own words: "we're here to support great teaching."
Oak began in April 2020 as a response to school closures and is now an independent public body. It is strategically aligned with the Department for Education but operationally independent. A support page gives its address as 1 Scott Place, 2 Hardman Street, Manchester M3 3AA. It calls itself a small team, and many roles are listed as UK remote.
A careers write-up describes an evidence-led culture committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, with flexible working, including a four-day week option, and a learning budget. The team includes software engineers and experienced classroom teachers.
We did not find a graduate scheme, apprenticeship or internship, and no specific vacancies were listed on the pages we read. Check Oak's careers page, and public-appointment listings, for current roles and requirements.
