A London-headquartered television producer, with bases in Manchester and Glasgow, behind Peep Show, The Cube, Lingo and The Only Way Is Essex.
Objective Media Group (OMG) is a UK television producer of scripted, factual, factual entertainment and entertainment programmes. Its own site describes it as a home for award-winning programming across those four genres, run as a group of labels backed by a central team. Programmes listed on Wikipedia include Peep Show, Fresh Meat, Toast of London, Feel Good, The Larkins, The Cube, Lingo, Celebs Go Dating, The Only Way Is Essex and the children's science show Operation Ouch!. The labels include Objective Fiction, Objective Entertainment, Coming Up Roses (factual), Tannadice Pictures (with writer Neil Forsyth) and regional bases.
The company was set up in 1992 as Objective Productions by Andrew O'Connor, according to Wikipedia. Its own site describes the labels as industry-leading production companies, but it does not publish a longer mission statement, so none is quoted here. It lists Oliver Wright leading Coming Up Roses, Neale Simpson leading Objective Entertainment, Ben Farrell leading scripted comedy and drama at Objective Fiction, and Toby Stevens leading the Scottish office. Wikipedia names Layla Smith as head of the group.
OMG is headquartered in London, according to Wikipedia. Its own site names Manchester, where it launched OMG North in 2019, and Glasgow, where OMG Scotland supports emerging Scottish talent and works with other labels. Wikipedia also lists an American office. The Manchester base was set up with Pam Cavannagh and Dympna Jackson, who came from the BBC. This spread across UK nations and regions matters for anyone outside London, because TV production in the UK is growing in many cities.
On culture, the information we found is limited to the group's own description of working through labels with creative leaders, backed by central support. Tannadice Pictures is described as developing work with emerging writers. Wikipedia says two older labels were closed or merged, which shows that production groups reorganise often. We found no staff survey or first-hand culture material, so we do not describe one. Ownership has also been reported differently: Wikipedia says the group is now part of Banijay UK, while the group's own page says it is part of All3Media.
Production groups employ a wide mix of people. Development producers and executive producers choose and shape ideas, series producers, directors and assistant producers run each programme, and researchers, runners and production coordinators support them. Scripted labels use script editors and writers, and the group also needs editors, post-production staff, finance, legal and business-affairs people. If you like comedy, drama, game shows or factual TV, those are the kinds of shows it makes, and it has bases outside London.
