The UK arm of a global sports, entertainment and culture agency, with offices in London and Manchester working on sponsorship, athlete representation and live experiences.
Octagon is an agency that connects brands, athletes and events. Its UK page says it works across three areas: partnerships, talent and experiences. Partnerships means helping brands choose and make the most of sponsorship; talent means representing athletes and speakers across football, cricket, golf, tennis, rugby and more; and experiences means creating live events and fan activity. The page names clients including Mastercard, Cisco, Stella Artois, Shell, BMW, Marks & Spencer and Standard Chartered with Liverpool FC. LBB Online describes it as "a leading global agency in sports, entertainment and culture" with more than 800 staff worldwide and nearly 1,000 athletes represented.
Octagon began in the United States as Advantage International, founded in 1983 by attorneys Phil de Picciotto, Frank Craighill and Lee Fentress, according to Wikipedia. The UK link is central to its history. In 1998 the Interpublic Group bought a British sports marketing agency, The AGI Group, and combined it with Advantage under the name Octagon, which was adopted in 1999. In 2012 it bought the UK creative and music agency FRUKT. Wikipedia says Omnicom took over Interpublic in 2025, which makes Octagon part of Omnicom. We did not find a formal mission statement. Its UK tagline is "It's all in Play".
Octagon's UK page lists two offices: London, at 135 Bishopsgate, EC2M 3TP, and Manchester, at 2 Jordan Street, M15 4PY. A UK registered company called Octagon Event Marketing Limited (company number 01782160) also appears in Companies House search results. Leaders named on the page include Jeff Meeson, managing director for marketing in Europe, Sarah Knight, head of people and culture for Europe, and creative directors Ryan Shaw and Lizi Hamer. We did not find UK headcount; Wikipedia gives more than 1,000 employees in 50 offices in 20 countries in April 2023.
On culture, the UK page says its people collaborate across different expertise and cultures, which it believes sets it apart, and the careers invitation is to "come play with us". LBB Online describes the team as a mix of savvy veterans and bold upstarts. These are the company's own descriptions. With athletes, brands and events in the same building, it is likely to be a lively working environment, but that is our inference.
Jobs in an agency like this include account managers and client-service teams, creative and design staff, live-events producers, athlete and talent managers, media-rights and sponsorship consultants, data and insight analysts, and finance, legal and people teams. Business, marketing, sport management, communications and creative subjects are all natural starting points. The company's own website lists current openings.
