A Scottish tidal energy company that builds floating turbines, with a working 2 MW turbine off Orkney.
Orbital Marine Power designs and builds floating tidal turbines that generate electricity from the movement of the sea. Its 2 MW O2 turbine has supplied the UK grid off the Orkney Islands since 2021. In February 2026 it reported orders for 13 turbines across the UK and Canada.
We did not find a formal mission statement. Chief executive Andrew Scott has described wanting tidal stream to be a material contribution to UK decarbonisation, supported by a just transition, and to show the role tidal power can play in future energy systems.
Orbital is Scottish-based and its turbine operates off Orkney. For its UK projects it chose Global Energy Group to build and assemble turbines at the Port of Nigg on the Cromarty Firth, and it talks about using a mainly UK supply chain. We did not find its office addresses.
We did not find culture or values statements, or staff numbers. The only person named in our sources is Andrew Scott.
We did not find any graduate scheme, apprenticeship or vacancy listing. A search result pointed to an older jobs story, which we did not read. Check Orbital's own website, and look at engineering roles across the marine and offshore energy supply chain.
