An Oxford company making a portable, lab-quality testing system so tests can be done where patients are cared for.
Osler Diagnostics is developing the Osler Origin, a portable lab designed to give laboratory-quality testing at the place where a patient is being cared for. In June 2026 it ran a usability study at the University of Birmingham's Precision Health Technologies Accelerator, evaluating a high-sensitivity troponin test used when a heart attack is suspected.
Osler's stated purpose is to "enable anyone, anywhere, to access, understand, and act on their health, in order to live a better life". It says its approach is built on the philosophy of Sir William Osler.
The company is a UK diagnostics business formed from the University of Oxford in 2017, based in Oxford. A job listing is for on-site work in Oxford, and the June 2026 Birmingham study shows it is still working in the UK.
A job-board profile gives its size as 51 to 200 employees (a 2022 article said over 100). The listing claims 25 days' holiday, a 4% matched pension, a wellbeing allowance, private medical insurance and quarterly team-building events. These are the company's own claims.
The role we saw was a full-time permanent Lab Technician in Oxford. The essentials were strong organisation, a hands-on approach and interpersonal skills, with pipette and laboratory experience desirable. It was posted about a month before we read it and had no exact date, so check Osler's careers page. We found no graduate scheme or apprenticeship.
