About Owlstone Medical

Owlstone Medical develops Breath Biopsy, which collects tiny chemicals and droplets from a person's breath to help spot disease early. It sells research products and services to drug and academic partners and is developing breath tests for lung and colorectal cancer. Its OMED Health division offers breath-based devices for digestive and gut health.

The company's stated vision is to "save 100,000 lives" (a 2020 company statement).

Owlstone Medical is based at Cambridge Science Park, Cambridge, UK, and also has a US office. It spun out of Owlstone Inc. in 2016. A Cambridge Network timeline shows a 6 October 2025 award from ARPA-H, a US government agency, to develop at-home multi-cancer early detection tests, and says it works with partners including the NHS.

Its careers page describes a relaxed, friendly, flexible and international working environment with strong team spirit, share options and private medical insurance, and work with a clear impact on people's lives. These are the company's own claims.
