Oxford PV

An Oxford solar company that makes perovskite-on-silicon solar cells and panels that can make more power from the same area.

About Oxford PV

Oxford PV makes solar cells that layer a material called perovskite on top of silicon. This tandem design is meant to turn more sunlight into electricity than standard panels. The company says it shipped its first tandem modules to a customer in 2024 and has set several efficiency records since 2018.

Its stated mission is "We make it mainstream": to make perovskite solar technology mainstream and solar cheaper. It says solar is key to decarbonising homes, businesses and industry.

Oxford PV was founded in 2010 as a spin-out from Professor Henry Snaith's lab at the University of Oxford. It has an R&D site in Oxford (Yarnton/Kidlington area) and its pilot and production line is in Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany, so not all roles are in the UK. News from January to March 2026 shows it is active, including a patent agreement with First Solar and a place in the Global Cleantech 100.

The company lists its values as open communication, collaboration, leadership driven by passion and continuous innovation (company claims). Its careers page describes a fast-paced environment with room to learn and says it is an equal opportunities employer. David Ward is chief executive.

We found no graduate scheme, placement or apprenticeship details, and the careers page showed no vacancies when we read it. Check Oxford PV's careers page for current roles.
