Pall-Ex UK

A UK pallet distribution network, headquartered in Ellistown, Leicestershire, in which more than 90 independent haulage firms share hubs to deliver pallets to every UK postcode.

About Pall-Ex UK

Pall-Ex is a pallet network owned by its members. It describes itself as a palletised freight distribution specialist and a pioneer in its industry. Independent haulage companies join as shareholder members, each collecting pallets in its own area, consolidating them at its depot and driving them to a hub. At the hub, pallets going to different parts of the country are swapped over, and the lorry returns home with the freight for local delivery. The network's own page says more than 90 members take part and that it processes about 16,000 pallets a night with around 1,500 vehicles, covering all UK postcodes. It offers quarter, half and full pallets, and oversized or unusual loads.

The pages we could read do not set out a formal mission or list of company values. What they do stress is customer service and quality: the network says it holds ISO 9001:2015 certification and looks for haulage firms that share its commitment to first-class delivery. It also talks about helping members grow their own businesses, and about cutting the number of lorries on the road by combining loads at the hubs. Its tracking and operating system is called Nexus, and it says the same software can help members with warehouse and transport management.

The head office and central hub are at Pall-Ex House in Ellistown, Leicestershire. A page on membership names three hubs in total: Northern, Central and South Central. A July 2025 trade article said the network was merging with Fortec, a pallet network it bought in 2020, so that from 1 January 2026 members would work under one brand using a new flagship hub in Leicestershire plus one regional hub, either Rochdale or Watford Gap near Northampton. The same article said a large new headquarters and distribution hub was being built in Leicestershire. The network also runs a storage and fulfilment business and works in other countries through partner firms in France, Italy, Poland, Spain, Portugal, Romania and the Benelux region.

On people, the network says it holds the Ministry of Defence Gold Employer Recognition Scheme award as a Forces Friendly employer, and its membership page lists Disability Confident employer status and Armed Forces Covenant recognition. These are the company's own claims of recognition. Barry Byers, group chief operating officer, was quoted in the July 2025 article. Members get support from a regional director, a quality and compliance manager, and teams for marketing, analysis and sales at the hub.

The roles inside a network like this cover a wide range: hub operations and night shift teams who sort pallets, drivers and transport planners, IT and data people who run the Nexus system, quality and compliance staff, and sales and marketing. Member firms add depot and driving jobs in towns across the UK. If you enjoy practical work, numbers and technology, a pallet network shows how a simple idea, sharing lorries and hubs, can move millions of goods safely each year.
