A UK overnight pallet delivery network based in the West Midlands, owned by its member haulage firms and founded by managing director Nigel Parkes.
Pallet-Track is a UK overnight pallet network owned by its members. Like other networks of this type, it brings independent haulage firms together so each can collect pallets locally and use a shared central hub to deliver them to the rest of the country the next day. Pallet-Track's own message, as reported in the trade press, is to put quality ahead of sheer volume and to invest in its members. A 2019 article said the network had close to 100 shareholder members, and a 2023 article said it regularly handles more than 20,000 pallets a night.
The network was formed in 2002 and began live operation on 30 January 2004 with 46 members, according to a 2008 interview with the company. On its first night it handled 852 pallets. By 2008 it had 65 member depots, and it grew by adding hauliers in new postcode areas, for example Garrett Transport, which covered the CB (Cambridge) area and was described as the 87th member, and Dobbs Logistics in East Sussex, joining in 2019. Chief executive Caroline Green was quoted in 2023 saying the network had a record of no lost consignments in its first 19 years. That is the company's own claim.
Pallet-Track is based in Wolverhampton, and the 2008 interview described a central hub in Wednesbury, in the West Midlands, with about 60 full-time staff at that time. The network's members are spread across Britain, from East Sussex to Northampton and Essex, so work in this sector is found in many local towns as well as at the hub. The 2008 figures are old, so do not treat them as the network's present size.
On culture, the sources describe a network in which members have a say. Members elect a network director each year to sit on the board, and Dobbs Logistics said it valued being able to meet peers to plan long-term strategy. Garrett Transport's managing director pointed to the member involvement and ethos of the network when he joined. Nigel Parkes is named as founder and managing director in several articles from 2008 to 2019, while Caroline Green is named as chief executive in 2023, so leadership has evolved. We found no staff-written accounts of working there.
The jobs on offer fall into two groups. The network's head office and hub employ people in operations, customer service, IT, sales, finance and quality checking, and member firms employ drivers, warehouse teams and planners across the UK. A pallet network is a fine example of how scanning technology and teamwork help ordinary goods travel safely. In the 2008 interview, freight was scanned four times on its journey, which is the kind of detail that suits curious, organised people.
