Palletways UK

A UK pallet delivery network, run from the Fradley hub in Staffordshire, in which more than 120 independent depots and hauliers move pallets overnight across Britain and into Europe.

About Palletways UK

Palletways UK runs a pallet delivery network. Instead of owning one huge fleet, it links independent haulage companies, called members, that each collect and deliver pallets in their own part of the country. A pallet collected by one member travels overnight through a central hub to the member who delivers it, so a business can send a single pallet anywhere in the UK, and onward to Europe, at next-day speeds. Customers include engineering, agricultural and builders' merchant firms that use members' local services.

The company's trade-press profile says Palletways was founded in 1994, and one member, Mitchell's of Mansfield, joined in 1995, one of the first. That member began with seven pallets a day and now handles over 400 a day. A 2015 article put the group's scale at more than 400 depots and over 7 million pallets a year across 18 European countries, and a 2023 article describes over 120 depots in the UK network and 450-plus depots across 24 countries. We did not find a company mission statement.

In the UK, the network includes a central hub at Fradley, in Staffordshire, where members provide shunting and trunk services, and several corporate depots; one of these, Palletways Birmingham, celebrated two million pallets processed. Palletways (UK) Limited is registered at Companies House under number 02918303 (search listing). The network director for Palletways UK is Warwick Trimble, according to articles from 2022 and 2023. In November 2023 the UK network belonged to Imperial, a DP World company, but a 2026 headline on the Post & Parcel site refers to a majority stake being acquired by another investor, so ownership has probably changed. We did not read the details of that deal.

The network depends on cooperation between independent firms. In a 2022 article one member said members support each other and work together to solve transport problems, and another praised the network's IT systems and its two-hour delivery notification window. These are members' quotes, not the company's own culture statement. The article also said that 13 members renewed contracts, together representing more than 80 years of membership, and that new members included firms moving from parcels to pallets.

Within a network like this, many roles exist: drivers and shunters, warehouse and hub operatives, depot managers, network and member support teams, IT and data staff who run the tracking systems, customer service and sales teams, and finance and human resources roles. Because most members are local family or regional businesses, jobs can be found in many towns, not just big cities. If you like logistics but want to work for a smaller local firm that is part of a bigger national system, this is a model to look at. Palletways' website and members' own sites list current vacancies.
