A London cyber security company that gives organisations a single view of their security gaps. Founded in 2014 by computer scientists who had worked at BAE Systems Detica.
Panaseer is a cyber security company that helps large organisations see their security weaknesses in one place. It says it was the first to give organisations an automated, consolidated view of their assets (the computers and systems they own), controls (the protections that should be on them), vulnerabilities (weak spots) and threats, so security teams can decide what to fix first. Big organisations often have thousands of systems and tools that do not talk to each other, so a clear picture is hard to get.
It was founded in 2014 by Nik Whitfield, a computer scientist, with colleagues who had previously worked at BAE Systems Detica, and it is based in London. Whitfield was chief executive until January 2021, when he became chairman so a new chief executive could lead its growth in Europe and North America. A company post from May 2018 says it had moved to larger offices at CargoWorks in Waterloo, with nearly 30 London-based employees at that time. Today its careers page says it is a remote-first company, so staff can choose where they work.
We did not find a formal mission statement. Its culture page says its people, whom it calls Seers, are "changing the face of enterprise security". It lists five values: Compassion (being kind to yourself and others), Curiosity (learning and improving with a growth mindset), Authenticity (valuing different experiences and backgrounds), Low Ego (staying open to change) and Own It (making commitments and delivering with urgency).
Panaseer's platform pulls together data from a company's existing security and IT tools to give a continuous view of how well protections are working, and reports that security leaders can share with boards and regulators. Teams include engineers, data scientists and domain experts, plus project management and business analysis; one team leader on the culture page says: "It's the first place in my 23-year career where I've actually felt like I belong" (a company-published quote).
For young people, Panaseer is an example of a spin-out from the UK's established cyber-intelligence industry. Its careers page lists perks including a remote-working productivity allowance, private health insurance for employees and families, life and income protection, a wellbeing coach and extra time off for major life events (company claims). It does not list graduate or intern programmes, and we did not find an early-careers scheme, so check careers.panaseer.com for current vacancies.
