The Coventry-based UK aerospace business Parker Meggitt, formerly Meggitt plc, with an Engineering Technician apprenticeship at Ansty Park and a range of other apprenticeships.
Parker Meggitt is the name for the former Meggitt business, which became part of Parker Hannifin in September 2022. It designs and makes aerospace and defence equipment. Meggitt's products have included cockpit displays and standby instruments, bleed air leak detection systems, electro-thermal ice protection, vibration monitoring for engines, and wheels and carbon brakes. Parker Meggitt describes its work as solving engineering challenges and developing innovative products.
A Parker Meggitt apprenticeship advert says that "A career at Parker Meggitt offers boundless potential for professional and personal growth." We did not find a formal mission or values statement in the pages we could read, so check the company's careers site.
The company's UK headquarters are at Ansty Park, Coventry. In 2018 Meggitt announced plans to move its HQ from Bournemouth Airport to a new purpose-built site at Ansty, Warwickshire. Meggitt's history goes back to Willson Lathes, a machine tool maker founded in Halifax in 1947, and it had about 9,000 employees worldwide in 2021. Apprenticeship adverts for Parker Meggitt also appear in Coventry, and the company has had a long history in Dorset.
The Engineering Technician advert lists a benefits package of 25 days' annual leave (with the option to buy and sell days), a pension and life assurance, a work laptop, health and wellbeing support, employee discounts and a cycle-to-work scheme. Apprentices join a bonus scheme, with a minimum of 2.5%, and pay is reviewed each September. A student review site gave Parker Meggitt apprentices a 4.7 out of 5 rating, based on only 14 reviews, so treat it as a rough guide.
The Engineering Technician Level 3 apprenticeship at Ansty Park pays £19,000 a year for a 39-hour week and combines external training with the day job, with working hours of 7am to 3:30pm Monday to Thursday and 7am to 2:30pm on Fridays. It asks for five GCSEs including maths at grade 5 or above and English, science and two other subjects at grade 4 or above, and no A levels. A permanent role may follow, subject to performance. This listing has expired. Search results also show Level 3 manufacturing engineering, maintenance and fitter apprenticeships, an engineering manufacturing degree apprenticeship and a supply chain leadership degree apprenticeship, but we could not read them. The programme length and start date were not stated, and we did not find a UK graduate scheme.
