A UK development consultancy, founded in 2003 and now with more than 500 staff in offices across England and Scotland, covering planning, design, environment and heritage.
Pegasus Group is a development consultancy: it helps people who want to build, from homes to commercial schemes and infrastructure, work out what can be built, where, and how to win agreement for it. Its website lists planning, design, environment, economics, heritage, transport and infrastructure, climate, air and noise, biodiversity and ecology, building surveying and project management. Some of those, like ecology (the study of wildlife and habitats) and noise assessment, show how much of development work is science as well as design.
The company says it was created in September 2003 and started with about ten people in Cirencester. Its website gives headcount milestones of about 100 in 2008, 180 in 2013, 230 in 2017 and more than 500 today. It became a limited company in July 2010, bought Armstrong Burton Group in March 2020, and named Nicky Parsons as chief executive in January 2023. It describes itself as a leading independent development consultancy and says its aim is to "bring innovative thinking to create beautiful places". Its values heading on the site does not list specific values, so we have not invented any.
Its UK offices, from its own website, are Cirencester (its registered office), Birmingham, Cambridge, Bristol, East Midlands, Leeds, Manchester, London, Liverpool, Peterborough, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Lichfield, the last opened in April 2024. It also lists Dublin, which is in Ireland. In all, the site says it has 15 locations. That makes it one of the larger planning-led firms with a presence in both England and Scotland.
On culture, the company says sustainability is "embedded in everything we do" and points to an ESG strategy launched in 2024. It calls itself "an exciting development consultancy" with a client-focused approach, and the page quotes clients describing the firm as "very fair, open and honest". Those are the firm's own words and clients' testimonials selected by the firm. The page does not name projects, though it links to a projects section we did not read.
With more than 500 people, the range of jobs is wide: planners, urban and landscape designers, heritage and archaeology specialists, ecologists, noise and air-quality scientists, transport planners, economists, building surveyors, project managers, and the finance, marketing and human resources teams behind them. If you enjoy geography, science, design or economics and like seeing your work turn into places people use, there are likely to be several kinds of role to explore.
