A London-based digital library that gives students and learners subscription access to over a million academic and professional ebooks, with study tools.
Perlego is an online subscription service for academic and professional ebooks. Students, educators and independent learners use it as a digital library, with study tools such as smart search, study guides, citation support and a mobile app. Its own website says it offers more than 1.5 million books and ebooks from over 5,000 academic publishers, and is used by over 200 institutions.
Its stated mission is: "We exist to make knowledge more accessible." It says it works with educators and publishers to build a digital library available worldwide, and designs study tools to help people learn more effectively. A separate profile says it aims to improve students' learning outcomes by making educational materials more accessible to all.
A TechRound profile says Gauthier Van Malderen and Matthew Davis founded Perlego in 2016, shortly after graduating, because they had seen students pay large sums for textbooks used only once or twice. It is London-based, and its internship listings place the team in Holborn, London, working hybrid.
We did not find a culture or values statement. Its internship adverts describe mentorship and structured learning, exposure to the product, sales and marketing teams, a reference for future steps, and a workplace with social impact at its core.
For young people, Perlego has advertised six-month fixed-term internships in London for several teams, including partnerships, customer experience, content operations, people and talent, finance operations, SEO and software engineering. The 2026 Partnerships Intern role (posted 6 July 2026, starting August 2026) paid £14.80 an hour, the London Living Wage, with no degree or previous experience required. The customer experience listing has expired, so check careers.perlego.com for the next round.
