The owner of Pinewood and Shepperton Studios, providing film and TV studio space and services in the UK.

About Pinewood Group

Pinewood Group provides studios and related services to the global film and television industry. In the UK it runs Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire and Shepperton Studios in Surrey, as well as a Toronto studio overseas. The Production Guild describes it as a leading provider of studio and related services.

We did not find a mission statement. The Production Guild profile says the group was founded in 1936, and its website shows a business focused on giving productions the stages, backlots, editing and mixing rooms and office space they need to make large films and series.

The Production Guild gives the address as Pinewood Studios, Pinewood Road, Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire. A 2021 Pinewood announcement lists Shepperton with 31 stages, two large backlots, nine mixing theatres, 20 cutting rooms and more than 150 businesses on the lot, and Pinewood with 30 stages, three backlots and a two-stage Indie Film Hub. It also describes an expansion of Shepperton with a long-term Netflix agreement, adding around 17 sound stages, and quotes chairman Paul Golding and Netflix's Anna Mallett.

Productions named by the Production Guild as filmed at its studios include No Time To Die, Eternals, Black Widow, Cruella, 1917 and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The profile also cites 172 Oscar winners and 234 BAFTA winners among films made at its studios. It lists partners such as Netflix, Disney Studios and Warner Bros., and business partners including ITV Studios, Sky Studios Elstree, Panavision and Universal Production Services London. The group also hosts many independent companies on its lots, so its community includes costume and prop makers, post-production firms and equipment suppliers. We did not find a description of its own culture.

A studio group employs people in stage and facilities management, building maintenance, security, bookings, customer service, sales, finance, health and safety, catering and events. Many people working at studios are from other trades, such as construction and electrical work. If you like the idea of working on film sets without being on screen, studio operations are a good area to explore. See pinewoodgroup.com for the latest facilities.
