A UK sustainability certification and carbon reduction company that helps organisations measure their carbon footprint, cut it, and be independently certified.
Planet Mark is a company that helps organisations measure and reduce their environmental impact, and then be independently assessed for it. Its website describes itself as a sustainability partner, not just a platform, combining expert people with technology. Its services include carbon baselines and targets, supply chain support, a four-level Net Zero Certification pathway, support for the built environment, social value, and carbon compliance. It also runs a data platform, an academy with member-only learning and workshops, member events and its own awards. Planet Mark says its certification is independently assessed and renewed every year, and is not based on offsets.
Planet Mark's pages we read give no formal mission statement, and no founders are named. A directory entry says it was established in January 2013. One directory summarises its aim as helping organisations cut carbon, waste and overall environmental footprint, and a company profile says it recognises ongoing improvement and helps businesses support the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Planet Mark presents carbon measurement as only a starting point, and argues that sustainability is a business transformation challenge, so it focuses on accountability and building sustainability into decisions.
The sources disagree about where Planet Mark is based. Its own website lists an address at Axys House, Parc Nantgarw, Cardiff, with a UK phone number, while a GreenJobs profile and another directory give London, with an address on Shelton Street, Covent Garden. Our reading is that it is a UK-based company with at least one office, Cardiff or London, and that you should check which is current before relying on either. Its certificates and member case studies from British organisations such as the British Pest Control Association and Bristol Global show that its clients are UK-based as well.
The GreenJobs profile says the company builds an "empowered community of like-minded individuals". Planet Mark's own pages stress community, learning and events, and that SMEs and larger organisations can use its support alike. We found no information on team size, values or culture beyond those descriptions, and its comparison with other providers on its site is marketing, so we have not relied on it.
The roles in a firm like this include sustainability consultants and advisers who help members, carbon and data analysts who check footprints, assessors who review evidence for certification, account and community managers, software and data platform staff, and marketing and events colleagues. A degree in environmental science, engineering, business or data could lead there, and so could strong communication skills. Check the company's website or GreenJobs for current vacancies.
