A European spend management company that gives teams company cards and expense tools, with open roles in London.
Pleo provides spend management tools for businesses. In plain terms, it gives a company's staff payment cards with set spending limits, collects receipts and expenses automatically, and links everything to the company's accounting software so the finance team does not have to chase paperwork. Pleo says it has over 850 people from more than 100 nations. Its theme is "From tedious to delightful".
Pleo was founded in 2015 in Copenhagen, Denmark, where its headquarters is based, according to CEO and co-founder Jeppe Rindom in a 2022 TechBBQ interview. Niccolo Perra is also named as a co-founder. Pleo launched publicly at the TechBBQ event in Copenhagen in 2016 with a team of around eight people. A job board lists offices in Copenhagen, London, Berlin, Madrid and Stockholm. In the UK, Pleo Financial Services UK Ltd is registered in London and authorised by the FCA (the Financial Conduct Authority, which regulates financial firms). We did not find a UK office address or UK headcount.
Pleo aims to give teams freedom, autonomy and control over spending, with a Nordic approach built on trust, autonomy and simplicity. Perra describes the wider aim as simplifying bookkeeping and removing expense reports, and Rindom has said the product is meant to handle all of a company's spending, including employee purchases, bills and reimbursements. These are the company's own statements of intent.
Its products include company cards, expense management, invoices and reimbursements, budgets, and integrations with accounting systems. Job-board profiles describe it as a spend management platform that helps businesses "centralise your business spending". We did not find a list of named customers or partners in the pages we read.
In the interview, Rindom says employees are trusted and given responsibility, new hires (called "bricks") go through a two-week onboarding programme, and the company focuses on learning and development. Its values include "Big goals. Little egos", and it lists learning budgets, health insurance and flexible time off as benefits; these are the company's own claims. London listings we saw were hybrid roles in legal, customer experience, commercial and risk and compliance, and were experienced hires. We found no graduate scheme, apprenticeship or internship, so check Pleo's careers site for any entry-level openings.
