A London-based transport software company, founded in 2020, whose cloud system with built-in AI helps haulage firms, freight forwarders and warehouse operators plan and run their work.
Qargo makes a transport management system, or TMS, which is the main software a haulage firm or freight forwarder uses to take orders, plan routes, assign drivers and send invoices. Its own site says the system is cloud-based with AI at its core, including an engine called Qi (Qargo Intelligence) that automates admin and planning. It supports many kinds of freight work, including general haulage, groupage (combining loads), containers, pallet networks, refrigerated and bulk liquid transport, and it tracks carbon emissions. It also offers a customer portal so a shipper can see where its goods are.
Qargo was founded in 2020 by Adriaan Coppens, Joeri De Turck and Sander De Wilde. Mr Coppens and Mr De Turck had earlier built a travel software company, OTA Insight, and came to logistics as outsiders who immersed themselves in how transport companies work. Funding articles say the team spent nearly two years on research and development before releasing its first product in 2022. Qargo says its mission is 'to help transport companies run smarter, faster, and with less effort'. Mr Coppens has argued that trucks drive empty about a third of the time, and the company talks about cutting empty miles and emissions.
Qargo is described as London-based in a 2022 funding article, and Qargo Tech Limited is registered in England and Wales. Its site is available in English, French and Dutch, and it advertises a UK account manager role, so UK customers are an important market. One UK customer, Anglia Freight, reported saving over 200,000 miles a year using the planning tools, and the company has named Altrea Group and Uniserve Group as customers. We could not find a published London office address.
On culture, Qargo's site describes a 'thriving community of operators' and says it looks for people who want to solve real-world problems, with 'big ideas, practical action'. A backer said the product is 'a modern SaaS that their users spend all day using and really love'. These are the company's and investors' own words rather than independent reviews, and we did not find staff stories.
The jobs at a software company like this include software engineers, designers, data and AI specialists, customer success and onboarding staff who help hauliers move onto the system, account managers and marketing teams. It is also a good example of how technology touches the physical world of lorries and depots. If you like both computing and practical problems, such as getting a lorry to carry a full load, it is worth following. See careers.qargo.com for current roles.
