A London factual television company, founded in 2001 and part of All3Media, behind Gold Rush, The Tinder Swindler and Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy.
Raw TV is a London-based company that makes documentaries and factual television. It describes itself as an All3Media company, and its titles include Gold Rush, Homestead Rescue, Banged Up Abroad, Shackleton: Death or Glory, Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy, The Tinder Swindler and Three Identical Strangers. Its own news post says Three Identical Strangers won a Sundance special jury award in 2018, and that the Chris Packham film Asperger's and Me drew just under three million BBC viewers.
Dimitri Doganis founded the company in 2001 with a small development deal from Channel 4, according to Wikipedia. He is now chief creative officer, with Joely Fether as chief executive and Fiona Clarke as chief operating officer. Wikipedia says it was owned by Discovery Communications from 2014 to 2017 and by All3Media since 2017, which matches Raw TV's own description. We did not find a mission statement or values page, so none is quoted here.
Raw TV's office is at 13-21 Curtain Road, London EC2A, according to the company's own news page. That page said that in 2017 the company made over 120 hours of programming, with 125 people in the office including freelancers and about 200 more on location and in edits. That is dated information, so check the website for the current picture. Its shows are made for UK channels such as the BBC and also for Discovery and streaming services around the world.
On culture, the company's own page describes 2017 as "a year to remember" and says it goes "from strength to strength with each passing year". The tone of its public pages is playful, and one privacy page jokes that it does not use cookies but likes to eat them. That is the extent of what we could verify about working there. The same page says the company does not accept unsolicited programme ideas, so new ideas come through a development team.
Documentary companies of this kind use many roles. Development producers and executives find the stories, series producers and directors lead each film, and producers, researchers and assistant producers work on the content itself. Production managers and coordinators run the practical side, editors and post-production teams finish the shows, and legal, finance and rights staff support sales. Journalism, history, science, law and film studies all lead here, as do curiosity and persistence, both useful for finding a story the public has not already seen.
