About Revolut

Revolut is a British financial technology company that started as a prepaid card and money-transfer app and has grown into a full digital bank. Through its app, people can spend, save, invest, send money abroad and, with some plans, trade shares and crypto. It also offers business accounts. Revolut says it has more than 75 million customers worldwide, while Wikipedia reports more than 80 million across 40 countries as at September 2026.

Revolut was founded in July 2015 in London by Nik Storonsky and Vlad Yatsenko. Storonsky is chief executive and Yatsenko is a non-executive board director. It began as an app that let people in the UK and Europe spend abroad at the interbank exchange rate, with cards usable in 90 currencies, and had around 300,000 users by 2016. It launched Revolut Business in June 2017. It is headquartered at Canary Wharf in London. After operating under a restricted licence, it received a full UK banking licence on 11 March 2026, which means UK customers' deposits under £120,000 are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

Revolut describes its aim as "building the world's first truly global financial super app". Its site says it wants to help people manage their money with clearer insight and more autonomy, and that "our people and our culture" are essential to its success. It says it looks for people who enjoy building strong products and turning complicated problems into simple solutions.

Its products include current accounts, debit cards, stocks and shares ISAs (launched in the UK using ETFs from BlackRock and Vanguard), savings, loans, insurance, buy-now-pay-later, foreign exchange and crypto, plus Revolut Business accounts for companies. Free and paid subscription plans are delivered mainly through the app. Wikipedia reports about 12,200 employees in 2025, and the company also has a major European hub in Paris.

Revolut's talent programmes include a paid internship and a 12-month graduate programme. For 2027, its internship adverts describe 8 to 10 paid weeks starting in June or July 2027, aimed at students in the penultimate year of a degree in subjects such as computer science, maths or physics, with hybrid working of about three office days a week and offices including London. Interns join a bootcamp and work on real projects, and top performers may be offered a graduate place the following year. Revolut says it is a certified Great Place to Work, which is its own claim. Wikipedia reports that from 2027 interns and graduates must work from the office at least three days a week. Applications are rolling, so apply early, and use only official Revolut channels.
