About Saab UK

Saab is a Swedish defence and security group, and Saab UK is its British arm, combining Swedish and British ideas. Saab UK says it provides solutions and services in defence, aviation, space and civil security. At its Fareham campus in Hampshire it works on radar and underwater robotics, including the Giraffe 1X multi-mission radar and the Seaeye SR20 all-electric subsea vehicle.

Saab's stated purpose, shown on its UK apprenticeship advert, is to help nations keep their people and society safe. Andy Fraser, Group Managing Director of Saab UK, said in December 2025 that the new Graduate Programme is the first stepping stone to a successful career in engineering. Saab's pages do not list separate values on the pages we read.

Saab UK says it has more than 600 staff across eight UK sites, specialising in software engineering, underwater robotics, radars, AI and armed forces training. Its Fareham campus officially opened in February 2025, supports around 400 jobs and is described as a major investment in UK sovereign capability. Rotations for graduates may also take place at Farnborough.

A 2018 article from Havant and South Downs College said Saab Seaeye then employed 146 people, believed strongly in investing in its future and had worked with the college for over 20 years. Former apprentices had moved into product development, production engineering and management. That article is old, so treat it as background. We did not find independent culture reviews of Saab UK today.

The Graduate Engineering Programme, Saab UK's first, was announced on 1 December 2025. It lasts two years in four six-month rotations across hardware, software and IT engineering, and covers the Sensor Systems and Seaeye business units. Applications closed on 4 January 2026, assessment centres were in spring 2026, and the start was September 2026. Saab also lists a Software Degree Apprentice role at Fareham closing on 30 July 2026, which asks for GCSE English and maths at grade 4, a Level 3 qualification, some programming knowledge, and security vetting. An Apprentice Test Technician Level 4 role also appeared in search. The graduate programme includes hands-on work with Saab technologies and continuous learning and professional development, and the campus supports Saab's radar and underwater robotics work. Pay for these routes was not stated, so check Saab's careers page for the next intake.
